Dear Family of King of Glory Lutheran Church,
Psalm 107:8-9
Let them thank the LORD for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of men!
For He satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul He fills with good things.
This month we are privileged to celebrate 20 years of gathering together to receive the gifts of God as members of King of Glory Lutheran Church. As we think of those twenty years of grace from God we see much for which we can be thankful. As the Psalmist records, “thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of men.” God has truly blessed us here at King of Glory. We have a wonderful facility in which to worship and gather. We have been blessed with a tremendous musician in Kantor Hoffman. We have been graced with a family of believers who truly care for and are concerned for one another. We are blessed with people who are willing to give of their time and energy. We have members happily go out of their way and aid others when called upon to do so. We are engaged in a number of activities to help our community and reveal the love of Christ to others. King of Glory is a wonderful and special group of God’s people; you who gather here make it so.
It has truly been my privilege to serve as your pastor for almost a full 12 of those years. I cannot thank you enough for accepting me and permitting to serve with all my foibles and quirks. You folks have graciously cared for and kept my family and me. We have been through much together and I cannot think of a better family of which to have been a part. God has truly blessed my family and me with you.
As we think of these twenty years you have persevered through two building projects. You have called to shepherd you 4 pastors, you have hired a Kantor, you have endured budget crises, and the vagaries of attendance. You have rejoiced with new ideas and looked forward to calm days. You have witnessed multiple baptisms and weddings and over saw the confirming of young and older in the faith, you have had the opportunity to thank our God for delivering on His promise of gathering the saints to Himself at funerals. Much has happened in this span of twenty years. And all we can do is be turned to and thank our God. We thank Him for His steadfast love and His wondrous works.
For why is it we come here to King of Glory Lutheran Church. We come here to receive from our God; we come to receive His gifts. God comes to us here at King of Glory Lutheran Church and He “satisfies the longing soul, the hungry soul He fills with good things”. He satisfies and fills by giving of Himself to us. Here, at King of Glory, we come burdened with sin and worries and God lifts them from us as He reminds us that His Son Jesus suffered and died in our place. That this God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, looks upon us in love and grace and keeps us as His own, and He stands ready to help and aid us always. We live and move in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is always here for us. Jesus has been with us these twenty years of our gathering together and will be so until the end. Our God is a God of steadfast love to His people. We are privileged to be of the family of the King of Glory, the Lord of Hosts, for He is our King of Glory and we are of Him. Amen.
