Dear Family of King of Glory Lutheran Church,

Psalm 107:8-9
Let them thank the LORD for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of men!
For He satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul He fills with good things.

This month we are privileged to celebrate 20 years of gathering together to receive the gifts of God as members of King of Glory Lutheran Church. As we think of those twenty years of grace from God we see much for which we can be thankful. As the Psalmist records, “thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of men.” God has truly blessed us here at King of Glory. We have a wonderful facility in which to worship and gather. We have been blessed with a tremendous musician in Kantor Hoffman. We have been graced with a family of believers who truly care for and are concerned for one another. We are blessed with people who are willing to give of their time and energy. We have members happily go out of their way and aid others when called upon to do so. We are engaged in a number of activities to help our community and reveal the love of Christ to others. King of Glory is a wonderful and special group of God’s people; you who gather here make it so.
It has truly been my privilege to serve as your pastor for almost a full 12 of those years. I cannot thank you enough for accepting me and permitting to serve with all my foibles and quirks. You folks have graciously cared for and kept my family and me. We have been through much together and I cannot think of a better family of which to have been a part. God has truly blessed my family and me with you.
As we think of these twenty years you have persevered through two building projects. You have called to shepherd you 4 pastors, you have hired a Kantor, you have endured budget crises, and the vagaries of attendance. You have rejoiced with new ideas and looked forward to calm days. You have witnessed multiple baptisms and weddings and over saw the confirming of young and older in the faith, you have had the opportunity to thank our God for delivering on His promise of gathering the saints to Himself at funerals. Much has happened in this span of twenty years. And all we can do is be turned to and thank our God. We thank Him for His steadfast love and His wondrous works.
For why is it we come here to King of Glory Lutheran Church. We come here to receive from our God; we come to receive His gifts. God comes to us here at King of Glory Lutheran Church and He “satisfies the longing soul, the hungry soul He fills with good things”. He satisfies and fills by giving of Himself to us. Here, at King of Glory, we come burdened with sin and worries and God lifts them from us as He reminds us that His Son Jesus suffered and died in our place. That this God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, looks upon us in love and grace and keeps us as His own, and He stands ready to help and aid us always. We live and move in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is always here for us. Jesus has been with us these twenty years of our gathering together and will be so until the end. Our God is a God of steadfast love to His people. We are privileged to be of the family of the King of Glory, the Lord of Hosts, for He is our King of Glory and we are of Him. Amen.

To the Community in Cheyenne,

Recently there has been a lot of talk in the news about "Lutherans" approving gay and lesbian couples to serve as clergy. We feel that it is necessary as pastors of the Lutheran Church--MIssouri Synod (LCMS) to make a formal statement that these recent events do not represent our congregations.

The LCMS is the 2nd largest Lutheran body in North America, and we have consistently reaffirmed a position on this issue that is faithful to the inspired and inerrant Word of God. (See Romans 1:24-27 or 1Corinthians 6:9) We believe that homosexual relationships, like all sexual relationships which occur outside of Holy Marriage, are sinful. We believe that it is therefore grossly inappropriate for anyone claiming to be a pastor in the Body of Christ to be publicly engaged in, or seen as approving of, such relationships.

In Christian love, the Lord calls us to assist those struggling with sexual sins to resist temptation and receive forgiveness from His hand. It is never our intention to show hate or condemn those who struggle with such sins. Instead, it is our task to lovingly respond as Our Lord Jesus Christ did to the woman caught in adultery, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." [John 8:11] Note that while he would not condemn her, neither did he approve of her sinful life.

The Word of God sets us free from slavery to our sinful desires, and grants us forgiveness of sins in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior. It is our hope, that those who struggle with temptation to sexual sins would find in our congregations a place where sins are honestly confronted, yet lovingly forgiven.

This fall and all next year, we will have an explosion of music linked to our Lutheran heritage here at King of Glory! Bachjahr 2010 is almost upon us! You will be hearing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach prior to service and also during many concerts over the next year. Intertwined with those events you will find our more traditional concert events such as our Christmas Concert; which starting this year will have a new International Theme, and then our Patriotic Concert also.

Flyers will be going out this week! Concerts are free as usual, and if you aren't up to speed on Bach's connection to our lutheran heritage, then check out the following link:

How many times do we drive down the city streets and see something we don't like and say, "what a shame"? How many times do we pass homeless people and say the same thing?
How many times do we do that and not do one thing about it? Giving a few dollars or so each time you pass one of the collection boxes at a cash register or at the library is great, but after the money is all collected, who is going to do the work? It takes PEOPLE to do the work behind the scenes to make the process complete. Most of the time, the money collected isn't enough to hire professionals to do the work, so that is where volunteers are needed. Also, volunteers can help that money go alot further for the organization by eliminating the need to hire anyone to do the work.

Volunteering has a meaningful, positive impact on your community. But did you know that it can have many benefits for you too? Here are some reasons to volunteer:

Learn or develop a new skill
Be a part of your community and teach your children to do the same
Good motivation and sense of achievement
A chance to do the work of the Lord
Enhance a resume (proven fact that employers will ideal candidate with volunteer experience before one without)
New experience/adventure
Meet a diversity of people
Send a signal to the world on how easy it is to help change our world...get involved!

Over the next few months, you will be receiving lists of volunteer opportunities with our church and the various agencies in our community! Take an hour or so a week and get yourself involved in making a change to our world.
